How to properly set up your computer for a Skype call
The communication field had evolved over the years. Back in the days, people communicated to each other by letters and layer using phone calls. You have to pay by the minute when communicating using phone calls. With the advancement of technology, now you are able to make video calls all over the world for free. One of these ways is by using Skype. All you need is an internet access and a Skype supported device.
What Is Skype?
Skype is a computer program that allows you to make free voice and video calls between two computers, tablets, or smartphones that have Internet connections. It is a VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) software program and basically converts audio and video during a call into data and sends it over the Internet for free. This is a direct opposite to calls over the PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) that are timed and for which there is a charge.
What Do You Need to Use Skype?
A computer, tablet or smart phone as the primary device of communication.
A microphone and webcam if you want to make video calls from your computer. These can be external or you can use the integrated webcam that comes in most of the modern laptops/desktop computers. Smart phones have integrated cameras and microphones.
You will also need the Skype software application which is free.
